3000 in particular was so visually striking, so pleasant, that it would instantly cheer me up, while 4 was the opposite.Ī graphics mod would help, though. To date, this is a major issue every time I pick up the game I immediately want to shift to 2000 or 3000 simply due to the immense amount of charm those games radiate. And most difficult for me, cities never really seemed to gleam with life and character everything was gray, drab, borderline “realistic” in style but without all the color and variety you would actually see in a real-life city. I never had any interest in The Sims, but for some reason the developers thought 3D Sims-style models were superior to the more charming portraits in 3000. While 4 was mechanically fine, I felt like it was lacking in the charm I’d come to appreciate since the series’ inception. I played 2000 throughout my childhood and loved 3000 since release.
